Weekend Stock Market Analysis

(5/30/15)

The latest data from the NYSE showed Margin Debt exploding higher for the month of April.  This type of action is similar to what occurred in June of 2007 and in March of 2000 (points A) as significant tops followed.

A closer look at the June 2007 event shows a brief sell off occurred (points B to C) which was then followed by one more higher high (points C to D) before a top occurred.   Meanwhile in early 2000 there was a brief sell off as well  (points E to F) however the S&P 500 wasn't able to make a higher high as it stalled out just below its previous high (points F to G).   Thus it will be interesting to see how the market reacts this time around.
