Outlook for Wednesday

(11/17/15)

The VIX stalled out yesterday right along the downward trend line I talked about in the Weekend Analysis.   So at this point there are two scenarios in the short term.  The first scenario would be for the VIX to drop back to its lower trend line which is around the 14 level.  This would lead to more upside for the S&P 500 since the VIX and S&P 500 usually move in opposite directions.    Meanwhile the second scenario would be for the VIX to eventually rise above the downward trend line leading to a potential move into the mid to upper 20's.  Naturally if this were to happen then the S&P 500 would come under more selling pressure.
